Benno Herbert Kubeck passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at Maison Des Aînés St-Canut at the age of 93. Born on May 20, 1933, in Montreal, Quebec, Benno lived a long and fulfilling life marked by devotion to family, hard work, curiosity, and a love of the outdoors.

The son of German immigrants, Benno was raised in Montreal, where his parents instilled in him the value of education and perseverance. After high school, he attended Loyola University as a member of the Canadian Officer Training Corps before pursuing a career opportunity that would lead him into the workforce.

In his twenties, Benno discovered a vibrant community of outdoor enthusiasts while skiing in Saint-Sauveur with his sister. At Mont Christie, he met the love of his life, Viviane. They shared 64 years of marriage, building a life grounded in love, trust, and friendship. Together, they created countless memories at Mont Christie, where a family cottage eventually became a permanent home and gathering place for their four children.

Benno enjoyed a successful 35-year career with Standard Life Assurance Company in Montreal. Beyond his professional life, he was a gifted builder and renovator who took pride in improving his home and property. From retaining walls and sheds to patios and renovations, he continued tackling projects well into his nineties.

An energetic and enthusiastic man, Benno embraced life with a sense of fun. Summers were filled with cannonballs into the pool, spirited games of beach volleyball, and entertaining friends and family alongside Viviane. Winters brought skiing, snowmobiling, and badminton. After retiring at the age of 57, he and Viviane spent winters exploring North America in their motorhome before settling into the snowbird lifestyle in Florida. Their retirement years were active and joyful, filled with tennis, golf, cycling, walking, travel, and cruises.

Benno will be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, sharp sense of humour, and endless curiosity. "He loved NCAA football, tennis, science fiction, creamsicles, and staying informed about world events. He was always eager to learn something new and took great pride in the accomplishments and interests of his children and grandchildren. He made each of his grandchildren feel valued, listened to, and deeply loved.

Above all else, Benno was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend. His greatest joy was his relationship with Viviane, a partnership built on deep affection, mutual respect, and a lifetime of shared experiences.

Benno was predeceased by his father, Johann Kubeck; his mother, Emilia Klostermann; his sister, Rita Mott; and his son, Keith Kubeck. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Viviane Miron; his brother, George Kubeck; his children, Kimberley (Nick Gajowski), Allison (Steven Berniquer), and Kevin (Ken Bunn); and his grandchildren, Dylan, Mathew, Myrica, Gale, and Lindsay. His wisdom, guidance, humor, and famous dad jokes will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Operation Smile Canada Foundation or to a charity of your choice in Benno's memory.

May his memory bring comfort to all whose lives he touched.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Salon Roland Ménard Inc., 395 Grâce Street, Lachute, Quebec J8H 1M3.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects beginning at 1:00 p.m.
